Las Lagunas and Campo de Mijas

Last updated:

Las Lagunas is where everyday Mijas happens: schools, shops, a public health centre, the CARE specialist centre and the Gran Parque, beside Fuengirola and its train station. Inland, Campo de Mijas offers established residential neighbourhoods with villas, townhouses and apartments; in August 2026 it recorded the lowest asking-price figure among idealista’s eleven published Mijas districts.

In idealista’s districts, Las Lagunas includes Los Ríos - CARE, Las Flores, Los Árboles, Las Cañadas and Centro; Campo de Mijas includes Urb. Campo Mijas - Hornillo, Sierrezuela, El Coto, Lagarejo, Haza del Algarrobo - Las Lomas and Cortijo Chico.

The Gran Parque

Las Lagunas has a 27-hectare Gran Parque, whose children’s splash park opened in June 2026 with 41 interactive features (Ayuntamiento de Mijas (opens in a new tab)). The park includes five children’s play areas. Las Lagunas also has a municipal sports centre on Camino del Albero, with an indoor swimming pool, a 253 m² public library at Teatro Manuel España, and a weekly market at the fairground on Saturdays, from about 9am to 2pm (sports (opens in a new tab); library (opens in a new tab); markets (opens in a new tab)).

August 2026 asking-price data from idealista (Mijas (opens in a new tab) and its district pages). Annual changes describe its advertised-price index, not the change in value of an individual home. The floor areas are budget comparisons before purchase costs and taxes.

Campo de Mijas had the lowest of the eleven district figures in August 2026, about 21% below the municipal figure, and Las Lagunas about 10% below. An advertisement checked on 6 October 2026 stated community fees of €25 per month for a villa in Campo de Mijas (listing (opens in a new tab)). This is an individual advertised example, not an area average.

New builds

Las Lagunas had the most new-development advertisements of any Mijas district on 6 October 2026: 21 on idealista’s Spanish-language search (idealista (opens in a new tab)); these are advertising counts, not distinct projects or homes. As an example, Nuovit Homes advertised two-bedroom homes at Lakün, in the Las Flores neighbourhood, from €511,750 plus VAT (Nuovit (opens in a new tab), 6 October 2026). Before paying anything off-plan, have your own lawyer check the building licence, the designated account and the guarantee or insurance issued in your name.

Living there all year

Health care. The Las Lagunas health centre, on Calle La Unión, is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 8pm (SAS (opens in a new tab)), and CARE Mijas, on Avenida de las Margaritas, provides specialist outpatient appointments and diagnostics within the Hospital Universitario Costa del Sol network (Hospital Costa del Sol (opens in a new tab)). In January 2026 the Andalusian health service announced plans for a 12,365 m² healthcare centre in Las Lagunas, with specialist services and round-the-clock urgent care (SAS (opens in a new tab)).

Schools. Las Lagunas has several state schools, including Las Cañadas, Virgen de la Peña, El Albero, Los Campanales, Tamixa, María Zambrano and Indira Gandhi (Ayuntamiento de Mijas (opens in a new tab)). The Junta de Andalucía’s 2024/25 register lists English bilingual programmes at CEIP Tamixa, Nuestra Señora Virgen de la Peña and María Zambrano, and at IES Las Lagunas, Sierra de Mijas and Vega de Mijas (Junta de Andalucía (opens in a new tab)). See Schools and family.

Getting around. The M-113 links Málaga, Las Lagunas and Fuengirola, the M-127 Las Lagunas and Fuengirola, and the M-223 Entrerríos, Las Lagunas and Fuengirola (Consorcio de Transportes Metropolitano del Área de Málaga (opens in a new tab)). Neighbouring Fuengirola provides access to the C1 train to Málaga airport, about 34 minutes away (Aena (opens in a new tab)). Málaga airport is around 18 minutes by road from Las Lagunas (Rome2Rio, October 2026).

If you plan to let the property

Since 3 April 2025, a new holiday let covered by Spain’s Horizontal Property Law generally requires prior express approval from the owners’ association. Have an independent adviser check the property’s planning compatibility, tourism requirements, community rules and any applicable transitional provisions before relying on rental income.

Who Las Lagunas and Campo de Mijas suit

Las Lagunas suits buyers who want schools, shops, health care and the Gran Parque close by, with Fuengirola and its train next door; Campo de Mijas suits those who want a villa or a townhouse in an established neighbourhood, in the district with the lowest published asking-price figure in August 2026.

If you want the beach on your doorstep, look at La Cala and the coast; for village life, Mijas Pueblo and the hills.

Asking-price figures: idealista, August 2026. New-home counts and examples: checked 6 October 2026. Prices, timetables and availability change; confirm current figures before deciding.
