Sightseeing in Mijas


Mijas, perched high on the mountainside is a typical andalusian village. Due to its proximity to popular resorts on the Costa del Sol like Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola or Marbella it is one of the most visited white villages in Spain.

Despite its popularity, Mijas has managed to retain part of its andalusian charm and character. The white-washed buildings and narrow winding streets with souvenir shops offering ceramics, jewellery and leatherwork make a daytrip to Mijas a memorable visit.

Tourists should not leave the village without visiting some of the most popular monuments and places to see in Mijas: The Virgen de la Peña sanctuary, the Carromato de Max miniature museum, the local crafts museum in the old town hall, the San Sebastian church, the wine museum, the church of the Inmaculada Concepción and the Muralla gardens with the remains of the old city walls are just of the sights which should not be missed.
